Our Team

Dr. Verny founded Hawthorne Dental & Braces with a focus on quality dental care, superior patient care and affordability of dental and orthodontic care for everyone. He is a Bruin for life, having earned both graduate and undergraduate degrees from UCLA and UCLA School of Dentistry. Dr. Verny specializes in restorative dentistry and orthodontics. He often coordinates patient care among multiple specialists in the practice.
Outside of work, Dr. Verny enjoys tennis, reading, hiking, and spending time with his family. Dr. Verny is a fan of all sports, enjoys watching his children play sports and watching sports on TV.

Dr. Jonathan R. Shadi was raised in the Los Angeles Area where he received his B.S. degree in Neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles with College Honors. He attained his DDS from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry where he accomplished being on the Deans’ List multiple times, in addition received the John Ingle Research award in 2009. After his dental training, he completed an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship at the Veterans’ Affairs Hospital in Long Beach, California in 2010. Dr. Shadi completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of California San Francisco-Fresno in 2014 and has been working in a private practice setting in the Greater Los Angeles area since completing his residency program. He maintains hospital privileges at UCLA Hospital - Santa Monica. Dr Shadi is well versed in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery while taking a particular interest in wisdom teeth extractions, IV general anesthesia, single or multiple/complex dental implant surgery, and bone grafting.

Dr. Talia Shainhouse Lebovitz is a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. She is highly trained in the fields of implant dentistry, cosmetic periodontal treatment and periodontal disease and its treatment.
Dr. Shainhouse completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology in Toronto, Canada. She then received her DDS from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry. Following her graduation, Dr. Shainhouse moved to New York City where she received her post-graduate degree from NYU College of Dentistry. She completed her specialty training at the Ashman Department of Periodontology & Implant Dentistry, where she was mentored by world-renowned experts in the field of oral and periodontal medicine.
Dr. Shainhouse is a clinical instructor at the UCLA School of Dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Osseointegration, the North Eastern Society of Periodontists, the California Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Shainhouse has lectured at various continuing education courses including; the Tri-School Periodontics Symposium, The Greater New York Dental Meeting and the Southern California Orofacial Academy annual meeting in Spring 2012.

Dr. Michelle Mian is an east coast native that has happily joined the sunny Southern California community. She is a graduate of Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where she completed her Doctorate of Dental Medicine, Masters in Medical Science, and Orthodontic Certificate. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics and the American Dental Association. Outside of the office, she enjoys hiking, scuba diving, and eating lots of ice cream!
